Veggie Dumpling Series: Tofu, Carrot & Cabbage Dumplings
Continue with Veggie Dumpling Series, we are glad to introduce another vegetable dumpling recipe for vegan fans of this delicious dish.
What you need:
- Dumpling wrappers (round): 1 pack
- Minced ginger: 1 tablespoon
- Minced yellow onion: ½ cup
- Chopped shiitake mushroom: 2 cups
- Shredded carrots: 1.5 cup
- Shredded red cabbage: 1.5 cup
- Diced tofu (firm): 1.5 cup
- Black pepper: ¼ teaspoon
- Sesame oil: 2 teaspoons
- Soy sauce: 2 ½ tablespoons
How to make:
Heat the pan with some sesame oil
Add the minced ginger and onions in and sauté them for about 2-4 minutes
Add mushrooms, cabbage, carrots, and tofu together and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Take the combination off the heat and let it cool off
With the heat off, add black pepper, sesame oil, and soy sauce and mix well.
How to wrap your dumplings:
Prepare a bowl of water
Take one dough wrapper, place about a spoonful of the stuffing onto the center
Wet your fingers by dipping them in the water, moisten the edges of the wrapper
Fold the wrapper into a semicircle
Gently seal the edge
Create the pleats along the dumpling as your preferences
How to cook your dumplings:
Once finish wrapping all your dumplings, start to cook them
Heat up the pan or wok with sesame oil
Place the dumplings into the pan one by one
Fry them until the dough turns golden brown
Serve
If you prefer steamed dumplings, instead of frying them on the pan, place them into a steam set and steam for about 10 minutes.
